Sydney Mae
Indiana | AAS Visual Art
Sydney Mae studied at Ivy Tech College in Sellersburg, Indiana, where she received her AAS in Visual Art with a specialization in Photography in 2022. Her primary shooting location is in Bedford, Indiana, where she photographs portraits and everything else under the sun. Sydney also favors state parks as studio locations, such as Spring Mill, Brown County, McCormick's Creek, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
"I always thought I would be just another portrait and family photographer, but then I discovered how much I love film photography and the process of the darkroom. And then came along the studio, with studio lighting and my own adaptations of stories and visual narratives of whatever my mind's eye is seeing at that particular moment. It's not traditional in the least, but it's creative and free."
Sydney Mae is a three-time national award-winning photographer who has shown in the Pat Harrison Fine Art and Design Gallery and the 2021 Louisville Photo Biennial. Photography has been a creative companion, a way for her to showcase the goings-on in her head that words cannot quite describe, and Sydney hopes that photography will continue to do that for her.
